HAPPY EASTER TAG

Instead of doing an Easter card this year for some special someones - I thought I would just use this tag.  I also covered the back with some pretty paper - so that I could write on it.  I started out with some Art Basics Heavy White Gesso on the tag and then put down some paper using Art Basics Soft Matte Gel.  The paper was mostly just for some layers - because in the end you don't really see much of the paper and I dried that. Then I used some Lindy's Stamp Gang Plumeria Pink (a Flat Fabio) and dried that as well. I pulled out one of my stencils from Prima titled Floral Petites and applied Art Extravagance White Crackle Texture Paste.  I let that dry overnight - and then this morning I applied Art Extravagance White Sand Texture Paste - over different areas of the tag and let that sit for about 4 hours.  Around Noon I just heat set the tag - just in case there were any areas of dampness.  I added a bit of Inka-Gold Magenta and Inka-Gold Gold to a few areas on the tag for some shine.  I used Art Basics Clear Gesso on my chipboard heart and then mixed some pink and white acrylic paints together and painted the heart.  I also touched it with a bit of Inka-Gold Magenta.  Next to the last step - I added my flowers and some metal pieces from The Flying Unicorn and, finally, touched the flowers and metal pieces with a bit of watered down gesso to push them back a bit.  I added a little bit of pink twine - attached another metal piece from The Flying Unicorn (a teapot) to my twine.  I hope they like it!

Recipe:

Mediums:  Art Basics Heavy White Gesso, Art Basics Soft Matte Gel; Art Extravagance White Crackle Texture Paste; Art Extravagance White Sand Texture Paste
Ink/Paint:  Lindy's Stamp Gang Plumeria Pink (a Flat Fabio); Pink and White Acrylic Paint mixed together; Inka-Gold Magenta; Inka-Gold Gold
Adhesives:  Beacon's Fabric Tac and hot glue gun
Chipboard:  Heart from Sa Crafters
Metal Pieces:  Leaves and Teapot from The Flying Unicorn and hook from Tim Holtz
Flowers:  Stash
Misc.:  Twine - stash

Journal Pages

I was mostly just playing with colors and types of ink on my background and ended up liking it - but - as you can once again see - it's blues.  I admit it - I am a blue addict!  So, I didn't really do much to the pages - but added a quote from Shakespeare and a few stickers (which I distressed a bit) from an old Anna Griffin scrapbook kit that's been sitting around for a long time.  But, I liked the result anyway - as tulips are one of my favorite Spring flowers.  I added a stamp from Bo Bunny's set Wall to Wall - it is old wood or barn siding.  I didn't put anything behind the pages when I stamped it - so, it didn't look like old barn wood because the pages are lumpy - but I liked it anyway.  This must have just been a "whatever is ok" day for me.  I did go in after this picture was taken and distressed the edges of the pages.

Journal Pages:
Ink:  Ranger Distress Paints in Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers
Stamp:  Bo Bunny Wall to Wall
Mediums: Art Basics Heavy White Gesso (which I watered down a bit); Art Basics Soft Matte Gel
Adhesives:  Hot Glue Gun and Beacon's Fabri Tac
Misc.:  3d stickers

Thanks for having a look at my "whatever" journal pages!

ART JOURNAL PAGES

I don't know if it is because I was in such a crappy mood today that my pages are so dark - or if the pages just turned out that way because of the project.  Either way, I guess it is what it is.  I found my 7 Gypsies Paper - Global - and decided to just make some taps with the old world maps.  I distressed everything because it is suppose to have a vintage feel - but it ended up all dark colors.

Anyway, I made up my mind that I would roll with what I do in the journal - because it is for experimentation.  (However, there were 2 pages I really, really, I mean really - hated).  So, those 2 pages were gessoed over as if the pages were never made.

Items Used:

Paper:  Seven Gypsies Global; Bo Bunny Week-end Market Collection
Inks:  Ranger Distress Vintage Photo; Staz-On Black; Prismacolor Pencil Crimson Red with Gamsol
Mediums:  Art Basics Heavy White Gesso
Stamps:  Limor Webber Rugged Edges
Miscellaneous:  Prima Art Journal (altered); Hot Glue Gun; Beacon's Fabri Tac; Pop Dots; Tim Holtz Swirl Hook; Flying Unicorn Eiffel Tower charm (which is crooked in the picture - which I didn't catch until I'd already loaded them to the blog); Suede Strips for the ties on the tags

And, that about sums up the journal pages.  I need to do something to lighten up my mood and colors!!

I AM THINKING SPRING!

I am really, really tired of snow and ice.  The temperature got up to 60 degrees today - which seemed quite balmy compared to last week!  I want to wear my capris, my sandals, get my pool opened and float around!  (That was my "all about me" needs and wants)!

So, back to my tag.  I was in the mood for some pink and black and some sparkle.  I think I might enter this into the Scraps of Elegance/Scraps of Darkness challenge - if I figure out how to do it - you have to enter through Facebook.

There is a mood board for inspiration:

You can check out the blog or use the link beneath the graphic to check out the challenge information.  You need to mention what inspired you from the mood board, quote, picture, etc.

ART JOURNAL PAGES

Well, these are the first four pages in my art journal.  I don't know what the first page was - except an experiment with some paper and colors.  The second page with the gold I liked a bit better.  My third and fourth pages I like even more.  Although I don't know exactly what I am going for when I sit down.  You can see that I leaned, once again, to the blue family in my background.  I added texture to my background and, once it was dried, I added a bit of color to it.  I also added a few stampings in the BG and my titles on each page.  The chipboard frames I used I wanted sort of a grungy feel to them -so I embossed them several times with teal and brown - wanting sort of a peeled paint look.  I added some paper and a couple of pretty butterflies in the frame.  Lastly, I added a couple of grungy looking ticket stubs.  So, all-in-all, I think I am making more progress - learning a bit as I go.

Recipe:

DP - K&Co. Ancestry.com
Mediums:  Art Basics Clear Gesso, Art Basics Heavy White Gesso; Art Basics Opaque Modeling Paste
Chipboard:  Sa Crafters
Embossing Powder:  Ranger
Stencils:  Bo Bunny(2nd page); Tim Holtz Bubbles (3rd page); Tim Holtz Shattered (4th page)
Adhesives:  Glue Gun and Beacon's Fabri Tac
Misc.:  7 Gypsies Ephemera (ticket stubs); Ranger Vintage Photo Ink for distressing; Staz-On Black for inking the Prima Vintage Vanity stamp

I will keep at it - trying to figure out what I really want!

Thanks for stopping by!
